About UC3

UC3 is a creative partnership bringing together the expertise and resources of the CDL, the ten UC campuses, and the broader international curation community. We foster collaborative analysis, projects, and solutions to ensure the long-term viability and usability of curated digital content. Examples of tools and services include Merritt, EZID, the Web Archiving Service (WAS), and Data Management Plan Tool (DMPTool).

Harnessing the collective energy and innovation of its partners, UC3 provides solutions that are out of the reach of any individual partner. UC3 works through this partnership to

– Provide high quality and cost-effective digital curation services and expertise
– Develop and maintain hosted digital curation and preservation repository services
– Develop and support tools to facilitate curation of valuable digital assets
– Increase awareness and understanding of digital curation and preservation issues, through communication and outreach
– Support a community of experts, researchers and stakeholders through workshops and symposia, and provide channels of communication.

UC3Merritt / Share, manage and preserve your content

Merritt is a new cost-effective repository service from the University of California Curation Center (UC3) that lets the UC community manage, archive, and share its valuable digital content. Merritt features:

– an easy-to-use interface for deposit and update
– access via persistent URLs
– tools for long-term management
– permanent storage.

UC3EZID (easy-eye-dee) makes it easy to create & manage unique, long-term identifiers

– create identifiers for anything: texts, data, bones, terms, etc.
– store citation metadata for identifiers in a variety of formats
– update current URL locations so citation links are never broken
– use EZID’s programming interface for automated operation at scale
– choose from a variety of persistent identifiers, including ARKs and DataCite DOIs.

Web Archiving Service allows you to capture, analyze, archive and publish web sites and documents.

DMPTool helps researchers create and manage data management plans.
