OPERAS will hold its first conference on the topic of “Open Scholarly Communication in Europe. Addressing the Coordination Problem” from 31 May – 1 June 2018 in Athens. The conference is organized by the National Documentation Centre (EKT/NHRF).
The scholarly communication landscape in Europe experiences rapid changes with the development of Open Science. These changes impact differently various stakeholders across several countries. Then the main challenge the academic community has to face is how to coordinate efficiently across the different disciplines, countries, but also skills and specialties. The aim behind OPERAS is to address the coordination problem in a transition to Open Science context, particularly for humanities and social sciences. The conference is addressing all stakeholders involved into open scholarly communication activities : librarians, publishers, digital infrastructure managers, editors, research policy makers, funders.
